Artist Profile

Artist Clare Walton first combined her love of arts with festivals and community projects whilst living and travelling overseas.  Her first large scale project was for World Voices UK, for their 1999 Festival held at Royal Festival Hall London.  Following on from this Clare went on to run a number of art workshops for small community festivals and put together exhibtions until landing in Ireland in 2001 where she was employed as the Festival Arts Co-ordinator for the countries largest home and garden festival, Mallow Homes and Garden.

Upon returning to Australia in 2002 she further built upon her work in community arts by taking on the role of Indigenous Arts Co-ordinator for the Mining Sacred Ground Project - working together with Indigenous Artist from various communities throughout NSW.

Clare relocated to Melbourne in 2007 where upon being approached by St Kilda Adventure Playground to create a mural she established Visual Feast Creations in 2008.

From this first mural project Clare has gone on to complete programs at Skinners Adventure Playground and Cubbie (Fitzroy) Adventure Playground as well as residenices at schools, recycled art workshops for festivals and school holiday programs.

Clare personally works in a variety of mediums including oil paints, printing, mosaics, textiles and wearable art.  Her training was originally in Fashion Design and this shows through in her work still today.  Her long term goal is to establish a community art school and gallery specifically aimed at bringing together people from all walks of life to create works together from a variety of mediums for community spaces, festivals and just about anywhere that art can be installed.
